 The Pegram Fire Department is located at 308 Highway 70 in Pegram, Tennessee. The department is one of seven fire departments in Cheatham County.  The Pegram Fire Department provides fire and emergency services to citizens inside the corporate limits of the Town of Pegram. Service is also provided to those citizens outside of the corporate limits who have a Pegram address and are located inside Cheatham County.  The area covered is roughly 20 square miles and the department maintains an ISO rating of a 5/8b.  The Pegram Fire Department provides to its citizens all fire and emergency services including fire suppression, vehicle extrication, and medical treatment at the first responder level.  All members are trained, professional volunteers.  The department maintains an average of 20 members on its roster including an EMT-IV and several medical first responders.  Members are required to maintain 48 to 72 hours of training each year depending upon their rank/classification.  Disciplinary action and even dismissal is possible if these and other requirements are not met.  The only pay members receive is incentive pay pertaining to the member’s performance and duties as a firefighter.

 The Pegram Fire Department is a member of the National Fire Protection Association, the National Volunteer Fire Council, the Cheatham County Firefighters Association and also the Tennessee Commission on Firefighting.  The department is also recognized as a fire department by the State of Tennessee under its “Fire Department Recognition Act”.  The department maintains mutual aid agreements with the six other departments in the county and also with other departments and agencies in surrounding counties.  The Pegram Fire Department also has an automatic aid agreement with its closest neighboring department, the Kingston Springs Fire Department.

The Pegram Fire Department is governed and operated by the Town of Pegram.  Pegram doesn’t have a property tax so citizens inside and outside the corporate limits pay a fire tax.  The tax amount is.  The fire tax makes up the majority of the operational budget but the Town of Pegram provides for any needs that are not met within the fire tax dollars.  The Pegram Fire Department operates out of one station with 2 pumpers (E501 and E502), 1 tanker (T511), 1 medical unit (S531), and 1 brush unit (B521).  The department also has 1 pumper (E503) located at the old station at 482 Thompson Road on the south side of the railroad tracks that divide the town into.  This station is not operated out of under normal circumstances.
